....how big do you think the department is? Where do you think they get their inspiration?

My personal feelings are split between Microsoft funding a huge international department with 100+ employees badgering away at inventive/meaningful and normally ambiguous and ludicrous codenames before then deciding on a final official name that is just as stupid. Or, do they pay bananas to one monkey with a crayon to flip through a thesaurus in Redmond?

Lonestart, longhorm, bobcat, memphis, crossbow, aurora, and toaster to name but a few! But then I guess Intel and AMD are the same!

Personally I think there's a specialist primate zoo somewhere (maybe several) with network-capable typewriters. 8) Or maybe they've been testing their OLPC project (One Laptop Per Chimp).

The codenames come from them playing darts with the codenames tied to the scores. That, or drugs ;)

Any LOST fans out there?

Maybe that's the answer we've all been waiting for. All the tests, the whole island facility has been the breeding ground for crack codename creators!

I knew that polar bear had something to do with it - its Bill in true guise.

All the clues are there - there has been codename hydra and a darwin!

God bless 'tinternet. Finished season 2 before it aired on Ch4 :D

Well, by my figuring - it should be available for download as of the 8th of February. I am in no way either a) admitting to downloading it or b) condoning the downloading of it. Views expressed are that of my own and not of the edugeek forum or any of its members, affiliates or sponsors!

Although - somebody did manage to get the first 4 hours of 24 before it even aired in the states! :)

Well I was hardly ever in to see it when it first aired on C4 so I gave up (DVD recorder = temperamental), obtained it using another method and watched them all at once (without the 118 guys interrupting in 10 min intervals) :)

Then of course there was the new season of '24' leaked on the internet before it was even shown on FOX....
