Can someone take a picture of their HP 5550 lower tray?

One of our delightful children has decided to be a little heavy handed on the tray and broken the black plastic thing where the paper is taken out and into the printer. Is it possible someone could post a picture of their own so we can see what it is supposed to look like and hopefully try and glue the plastic back on?

This is a lower additional tray and not the standard one that comes with the printer, which appears to be different! There are 2 plastic black bits - one biggish one which is obvious where it goes and a thinner black piece which isn't so obvious!

Ok, maybe i'm not being very clear. I've taken some pics of the tray at the moment. The thin black plastic thing is what has come out and we don't know where about it goes back in. The big plastic thing obviously goes next to or over it, however it's obvious how that bit fits in so that isn't the concern.

Hope the pics make it easier to see, and maybe someone could look for us on their own lower tray and see where that thin black piece goes!

TIA.

Not a great photo im afraid. Looks like the roller bit clips in underneath and the other bit goes on top and clips on flush with the unit... Do you like the technical speak there?

Excuse the quality but I hope it helps a little.

Thanks for taking the effort gl3nnym... hard to see the thinner piece though. The big bit on top seems to have clips and our's clips in and out so seems quite simple to clip it out. It's be great if we could see underneath the big black bit to see exactly where the smaller piece goes! :)

Here are photos close up of the tray underneath the big black bit. Doesn't look like much there and tbh the photo quality is terrible (sorry). It on our tray we don't have that smaller piece, only the bigger piece that clips in.

Hope it helps some way.

Ah, interesting. That's actually a really big help, because it must suggest that thin black bit goes somewhere else! We have the standard tray 2 above with this thinner piece right next to the big black bit, however the trays differ slightly so it wouldn't go in the same place. No idea where the thin piece goes then - total mystery! However, at least I know now it doesn't go in the tray. Thanks for your pics, much appreciated :)

No problem at all. Does the printer work without it? You could always just ignore it like those times you open up a laptop, put it back together and still get left with spare screws!

Unfortunately it won't print without that bit in place! Further studying suggests it goes either on the top of the tray chassis or directly underneath the main printer chassis. Quite annoying! But hey, process of elimination and at least we know where it doesn't go now :)
