More CC4 newbie questions....

Sorry about this. Again. I have two hopefully simple questions:

 

1. When I press both shift keys, why does this particular machine say "Pd", rather than just "P" like the others i've done?

 

2. How can I change the name of a PC and get RMMC to pick up that change?

You can't. You will need to rebuild.

 

As for shift keys, does it still go into the RMR?

It displays RMR, and then when I press the shift keys its say's "Pd" next to the "RMR:" It usually just has a P next to it and goes into. It's just hanging there at the moment.

RM haven't published any explanations for what letters appear at the RMR prompt. Generally, if you see a different letter/sequence of letters, I'd take it as a sign that there is an issue. We've often found it's either a hard drive error or a boot issue - either way, use something like delpart.exe to wipe the drive then redeploy from a USB/CD.

I've seen that with certain types of RAID setups and chipsets (even when RAID itself isn't used, common in many PCs these days) - and chnging the bios from RAID or AHCI over to IDE appeared to solve it.
