Shortcuts

Hi,

 

Just in the process of taking our RM CC3 netowork out and slowly introducing a VMware infrastructure.

 

I`m upto the point were I need to deliver program shortcuts to machines/users. Before all the shortcuts were stored on the server.

 

Whats the best way to create/deliver shortcuts on a vanilla network?

We've rolled out XIALinks and are about to start using it in anger.

The roll out is very easy - it's an .msi.

 

All we have to do now is prepare the staff for the loss of desktop icons and start menu...

 

 

As with XIAAutomation it's cheap, well supported by the developer and easy to use.

If you are using Server 2008r2 you can create shortcuts via computer or users with Group Policy Preferences. That is how I give users shortcuts for server based applications and it is easy to di and works well.

At the moment no application are installed on my new servers, i`m assuming i`m gonna have to install my apps on the servers?

When you say "just the menus and shortcuts" I manually create the shortcuts in the menus and point them to the installed dir on the workstation/s?
