Just looking at their website and im interested in hearing any experiences with them and their kit?

We're looking at moving away from SWGFL as we've become increasingly unimpressed by their support, uptime and costs (mainly costs!!) we've had someone in to take a look and give us a brief on information regarding what they could offer us, to which we are impressed with and we put a major emphasis on filtering and bloxx looks like it could do exactly what we want internally.

So any experiences with this for or against them?

We've had a Bloxx here for about 3 years now.. no issues, and much more configurable than the LGfL effort we had before. No more waiting for change requests etc, and no limits on the rules/exceptions we wanted, as it's obviously all done locally. Price wise, not as much in it as you'd think probably, but the usability more than makes up for it.

Thank you Abaddon, what are the costs like with the bloxx boxes? Do you have just the web filter or do you have the media filter box as well? (quite liked the idea of the media filter one for youtube stuff)

At the moment through swgfl it's costing us around £9000 a year, even if it costs more than £9000 for the entire initial setup of the new net connection + filtering boxes we'll hopefully get one hell of a ROI in the long run

We just have the TVT-250 web filtering solution in.. it was about 8K for three years (which included installation, training and advanced replacement), so much cheaper than your current solution. Downside is only 250 concurrent connections, but we don't seem to have an issue with that so far. I looked at the media filters, but it wasn't something we felt we needed in the short term. For youtube and the like, we allow staff, but not students currently, so if there is something they want to show in class, they can.. Edited by Abaddon

We have two sites - one with a TVT-250 and the main site with a TVT-1250. These boxes work really well: easy to setup, manage and use - and when we do get an issue BLOXX support is excellent.

We have just done a hardware refresh - our kit was 2 years old - but they did a cracking deal that was too good to pass up.
