Desktop Icons randomly disappearing?!?!?!?!

I've never seen this before and am hoping someone out there has, and has a solution.

 

On one of our admin machines, at random times some desktop icons disappear, some taskbar icons disappear, even the boxes around "ok" buttons disappears.

 

I've run a full virus scan and haven't found anything.

 

I thought I'd fixed it the other day - I ran sfc /scannow and the icons all returned.

 

Two days later and the problem has come back again.

 

Here is a screenshot of the desktop if its of any help.

Dodgy graphics driver - ive seen a similer effect caused by a bad/old driver before.

Is the desktop redirected to a server?
