cwade100 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hi All, I dont how many of you use WDS but I am having huge difficulty setting it up. I have installed Server 2008 R2, done all the lastest windows updates, and it still fails to install. The server is a dell R710 with 4 Broadcom nics, I have 2 partitions, 1 for the system and one for the images. DHCP and DNS are running on the server. It is also a domain controller. I have followed steps and install WAIK. Once I have select WDS, it installs all ok. I then go to configure the server and it responds saying that the service failed to respond in an untimely fashion??...... I have installed it ok on a older server and on a virtual the same way, this is now starting to cause me issues . Any help is much appreciated!
cbrasga Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Do you have any other services/applications on that server running on the following ports: Port 67 (DHCP) Port 69 (TFTP) Port 4011 (PXE)
cwade100 Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 I have DHCP enabled on the server. I have tried unticking and ticking the box regarding those ports when trying to set up the server and no difference is made. With regards to the other 2 port types, there is nothing I am aware.
box_l Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I had something like this, if IIRC I had to remove the service pack, re-apply WDS, then add the windows service pack after the WDS install. HTH BoX
cwade100 Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Hi, tried with no service packs and still issues. Dont know if its anything to do with the physical server. Works fine on older servers.
