[ms office - 2010] Office 2010 not opening files from folders.

Hello, a teacher with a fresh install of Offie 2010 is complaining to me that he cannot open files from folders, only by running Office 2010 and opening the files can he get them open.

 

Any ideas?

 

I don't have the laptop in front of me.

Need to know what happens when he tries to open from the folder. Could be file associations if they are files from a different version of office or another office suite altogether. If something is wrong, he can test by right clicking (sometimes you need to hold down the shift key at the same time) then choosing 'open with...' that should work.

Another way to test is to open office and create a new document in the new file format docx xlsx etc and save to the particular folder in question. Then try and open that file from the folder.

This could also be down to some bug/virus or malware
