I tried to connect to the school network via our VPN connection, I am the only one who does this.

I normally connect and then use VNC to gain access to my desktop.

Last night I connected OK to the network but VNC kept timing out.

I looked at the results from ipconfig and noticed that my ip address which should have been on my domain range 10.7. was not - this seems to be the issue but what could be the cause?

Any ideas please on how to troubleshoot this one?

Thanks.

everything looks fine :( i think.

one difference is the ip address of my pc at home.

one is the version of RAS I am running at home as I've upgraded to w7.

I think I will try from one of my XP laptops tonight and see if something is maybe not setup right with my w7 - strange that it connects OK though.

What is responsible for issuing it with the correct ip.

The remote access policy on the server states:

"Server settings determine ip address assignment"

I've restarted the DHCP service and lo and behold the RAS entries have returned :)

What's all that about ?

Will try dialling in again tonight and report back tomorrow....
