Morning all! :)

A quick and hopefully easy question in regards to Softlink Alice Library! We have installed Alice onto one of our servers and created a link to the executable file on our LRC Manager's desktop.

We have never experienced an issue with this configuration in the past, but now it seems our LRC Manager cannot run the 'shutdown' process in Alice. I also logged onto Alice whilst on the server and found that the 'shutdown' option is highlighted in red and cannot be activated ...

Has anyone else installed Alice to a server and if so, how do you run the Alice 'shutdown' procedure?

If worst comes to worst I'll purchase some support from Softlink, but as with most schools, we're on a tight budget! ;)

Cheers!

We have Alice on the server and yes we had a similar problem. However we have an ongoing support contract. They dialled in and sorted it. I am afraid I can't remember what it is they did [a repair command of some kind]

Sorry I can't be of more help but it was a while ago.

If I recall correctly when Alice support dialled in they did a repair on the Alice catalog. I watched what they did but I cannot remember the steps. Sorry.

Hi guys just wondered if you have a fix for this as I have the same issue. Shutdown is in red when I try to resolve the issue.

Yep! I can just about remember what needs to be done! :)

-Go to the computer/server that requires Alice shutdown capabilities

-Open and log into Alice

-Click on the 'Alice x.xx' folder

-Click on 'System'

-Click on 'Parameters'

-Double click on 'Library'

-Select the 'Shutdown' tab

-Click on the 'edit' button in the top left hand corner of the open window

-Tick the box entitled 'This is a shutdown machine'

-Click on the save button in the top left hand corner.

-Close/Shutdown!

Alice sucks....

Upgrade to Oliver, it hasn't crashed on us yet.

Apart from the slight problem where it sometimes forgets to sync users from SIMS.... or do any 'housekeeping' a restart usually sorts both of these out.
