ok, im trying to get a website running using Wamp server on a server 2003 box. IIS is not running only WAMP. i have given the box a public facing IP and installed a joomla site inside the WWW folder.

for some reason, when going to the public facing address the site can not be seen, however, when i do the same on my laptop the site can be seen?! Is there something on Server 03 that needs to be checked for me to be able to see the site?

Thanks

i can see the site locally like that, but it is a site that will soon need to be live and it will not show via the public facing ip which is the problem

How is the 'public facing IP' assigned to the machine? Is it done directly, or is it assigned to your edge router, or a firewall box?

When you say it works on a laptop, what do you mean? Do you mean on a laptop connecting to the internal network IP address of the server or do you mean laptop connecting to the public facing IP? Also, how is this laptop connected? To the internal network?

The Public facing IP is set to the Network card. This is how i had it running on my laptop. I have the same set up on the server with the only difference of operating system i.e. Laptop XP server 2003

If you've added a second ip address to your NIC then you'll change to the apache config to pick this up. It's normally easier to redirect an external ip to the webserver via a firewall if possible

If you click on the wamp icon does it show "Bring Online" or "Bring Offline"? If it shows "Bring Online" it means that the site permissions are disabled. Try clicking that.
