Yuku forums and extra lines appearing

This may not be limited to yuku forums, or may be my lack of knowledge with html, but I am getting perplexed with a problem I am getting when adding html tables. For some reason, whenever I add a table, extra blank lines are added above. The larger the table, the more lines added. This means that one table that I want to add with 5 columns and 20 rows has to be scrolled down to see it.

Am I missing something really simple here, or is it a downside of a "free" forum service?
