Retoring a jailbroken 3GS

Just found out daughter has jailbroken her 3GS.

 

I'm assuming if we tried to claim on the insurance and it went off to be repaired/replaced they'd decline to do so?

 

Anyone had any experience/know of one of the situation before I restore it back to square one!

 

(I'm think no point in spending £5/month on insuring it!)

Just plug it back into itunes It should ask to apply an update where it will install that update taking off the jailbreak (or so i understand).

Yep thats right, shouldnt leave any files on there to do with jailbreak eithier

To be fair it might leave some signs on there you be surprised how much is left on a iphone after just doing an update like that (you can get about 90% of data back even after doing a wipe of the iphone). To be totally safe do a restore to factory and restore etc (even then might still leave something).

 

But you can claim that a friend did it and then when researched it found not a good idea so restored it etc.

If you do a factory restore etc then make sure you set it up as a new phone and not restore back up from itunes (as that would for sure copy some signs of the jailbreak back onto iphone).
