Clockworks Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Who saw it last night? I saw a pitiful 3 meteors here in WA; I was outside the city, on top of a mountain. Damn state. When's the next major one?
GeeHubb Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Yep, I saw four in the space of half an hour before it clouded over. That was from the bedroom window. I'm in Suffolk, where it is now tipping it down with rain! Doubt we'll see any tonight.
Caji Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) I live in N.C. out in the country...It was a pitiful site. The hundreds per hr. turned out to be 3 in a 4 hrs. period from 2a.m. to 6 a.m. I don't know what happen to them but they sure weren't up there last night. Maybe because our planet has repositioned itself these past couple of years... Edited August 12, 2013 by Caji Had to add a word
AMLinington Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I saw 3 or 4 too but that was only beween 9pm and 11pm GMT - I also took a peek out the window at about half 3 this morning and didn't see much :-(
GeeHubb Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I did quite well then. I watched for about half an hour 11:15-11:45 pm last night and saw three. Then got up around 2:30 and saw a further six for definite and another three maybes out of the corner of my eye in about 3/4 hour. Nothing after 3:00 a.m. though if I remember correctly. Went back to bed 3:15ish. Certainly didn't see as many as I was expecting to unfortunately. Nice clear night last night. Very overcast at the moment, so may not have any luck at all tonight.
Marshall_IT Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I sat out for around 30 mins from midnight, I saw what i'd say was 4 or 5 big ones and maybe the same again small ones that didn't leave much of a trail. I was sat in my back garden, we are quite a way out of Leeds.
CAM Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Caught glance of a few in Surrey. Trouble is light pollution from nearby cities, even miles away, can interfere severely with seeing them.
sidewinder Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Dont think I would have had any chance of seeing any in London but luckily I was visiting my parents in Berkshire yesterday so did see a fair few around 11pm-12am. They were really incredible, never seen any before. I did stay out until about 12.30 but hadnt seen any in ages so went to bed
