we have an HR issue where a teacher has a note from her doctor that our laptop is giving her back ache. We need to provide teacher with a laptop stand or something to raise the level of the laptop on their desk.

What is the recommended thing for this?

Also, I seem to remember an image on here about laptop posture dos and donts.. could someone point me in the place for that please?

cheers

Laptops are simply not designed to allow for appropriate posture, you will need a stand and an external mouse and keyboard so that everything can be at the right height.

Something like this http://ooscare.com/mediac/450_0/media/Liquid$20Laptop$20Station$20Double.JPG

would provide propper ventalation and elevation to get the moniter to a safe height and then the keyboard and mouse would be on an appropriate height desk with an appropriatly configured chair.

There are also some really fancy docking stations avalible that provide for elevation but those are quite expencive.

In Australia, Logitech seems to be the popular ones for this it appears.

Example of some of their products:

* LOGITECH Riser N110 939-000135 (XH1183) | Dick Smith Online Store (Product Code: XH1183 (if the links don't work, just stick it in the search box)

* LOGITECH Alto Wireless Keyboard 920-000808 (XH0595) | Dick Smith Online Store (P C: XH0595)

* Product list

I think from memory belkin has a cushy foam version for this as well. You will need to supply a keyboard and mouse as well, Some people just do a small laptop dock that just plugs in and you can connect a normal monitor, keyword and mouse to that (so its only just one plug to undo) or you can do that without the dock.

hmm theyre not cheap... was hoping for something circa $20AUD.. in case this becomes 'policy' and we need to purchase one for each of the 400 staff with laptops.. dont really have a spare 8k lying about let alone more than that..

Might just dish out some piles of old textbooks to raise the level ;p
