RabbieBurns Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Ive just been told we are taking control of our Moodle box which has previously been outourced. I have never used the admin side of it before. We have been asked to find some survey plugin and set up a survey in Moodle. My questions are thus: Can anyone recommend a decent survey plugin? What access do I need to the moodle box? Admin rights within moodle/ FTP / ssh? etc How do I install plugins? Any help much appreciated.. cheers
beeswax Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 You'll need admin rights. There's no "backend" as such, simply go to the course you want to add the survbey to and click the "Turn Editing On" button. Follow the instructions in this video. secretlife Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Hi. With respect to beeswax, don't use the survey module that is already in Moodle as you can't alter the questions in any way. For what we think of as a survey you would need to download and install the nonstandard modules Questionnaire (or feedback) You can get these from Moodle.org: open-source community-based tools for learning and click on the downloads tab and then modules and plugins - search for Questionnaire. You will need to install it on your server - there are instructions on moodle for installing non standard modules (or I did a video here ) Then when installed, go to your course and turn on the editing and have a play adding your own choice of questions. (edit - I expect someone might come along and say that free online surveys such as surveymonkey are easier but better long term to have a built-in Moodle survey module. Just rmember the confusion -Moodle's "survey" = useless - use "questionnaire" or "feedback" instead) 1
danIT Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Top tip, in my opinion, use the Feedback activity. Think its included in 1.9 core? 1
RabbieBurns Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 Ive delegegated this, not got the time to investigage.. but will pass on the info, cheers all
secretlife Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Feedback is not included in 1.9 core but will be initially in 2.0 (although hidden with the eye) 1
gshaw Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 We use the Questionnaire activity, much more flexible and displays more nicely than Feedback imo Don't worry about Moodle 2.0 yet if you're new to 1.9
