docboggle Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I am looking for an alarm that will sound if there is a power loss, such as... Power Out® Power Failure Warning Alarm Plus Flishlight (THP-207) - Disaster / Emergency - Ace Hardware but that can be used in the UK. Unfortunately, our servers are on the same circuit as some other sockets in our school, and I have had a number of occasions where people have tripped the fuse breaker, not noticed, and then the chaos that follows when the UPS runs out of juice. All I want is a small plug in device that sets off an alarm or buzzer when the AC cuts out. Has anyone seen anything similar available here in the UK? My searches have found nothing so far.

joe90bass Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Power Failure Alarms Haven't used them myself but the 110dB one looks fun! in the event of a mains power failure a 110DB external siren is activated for over 4 hours (this can be doubled by using a lithium PP3 battery). I suspect that would get a quick response!

Ric_ Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Most UPS devices can sound an alarm when the power fails and can also generate emails/SNMP alerts. Would that not be sufficient?

Our UPS has an alarm, but it is located in a different room to where I need the alarm. The alerts would only be any good if someone was definitely at their PC when the power trips.
