Supporting the Network Manager you will have previous schools network support experience and a clean enhanced CRB. Knowledge of 2003 server, XP, dhcp, DNS essential and ideally Moodle. As the school has lots to do they'd like to get someone in on a temporary basis to begin with. It would probably suit someone who is already contracting or between jobs perm salary will certainly be similar to the contract rate, pending this review 1
Will_Townsend Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Further update, here is the tech spec, start in mid august, initial contract for 3 months with the ability to apply for the permanent role which will come available mid october (not guaranteed i'll grant you). Small team with very open and approachable network manager Pay @ £100 per day (via umbrella company) and perm salary thought to be around £20-21K Experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage but this is not essential, as further training will be provided. However you will need to demonstrate an aptitude for IT systems and the ability to troubleshoot user problems in a Windows Server environment. A clear understanding of new and progressing technology within the IT sector, with a strong grasp on Website maintenance. Person Specification Essential Previous experience of working in a IT support or Helpdesk environment with advanced problem solving skills and a methodical approach Working knowledge of sims.net A thorough knowledge of desktop PCs laptops and peripheral hardware Experience of working with a configuring Microsoft XP, Exchange server 2007, Server 2003 A working knowledge of Microsoft networks including: Active directory, DNS/DHCP, Group policy, MSI packages Experience of Moodle VLE (or similar), Web site Authoring A good all round knowledge of educational software Enthusiasm and a willingness to develop new skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, an ability to work under pressure with a good sense of humour Qualifications such a MCP, MCTS, MCSA, MCSE, or other industry recognised qualifications would be desirable but not essential. Desirable Previous experience of working in a n educational environment Experience of apple Macintosh / Dell desktop PCs Experience of working with a configuring Server 2008, Windows 7 WSUS, Windows deployment services PHP, Java The ability to advise staff and students on appropriate solutions
