[SIMS] Problem Creating CTF File "The ROLLBACK TRANSACTION request." Error [Solved]

My exams officer is trying to create a CTF file and her machines just hangs, it does the same thing even on the server.

 

She managed to create the CTF file on Weds butshe has ammended it and is now trying to recreate it.

 

Eventually it threw up this error on one attempt:

 

The ROLLBACK TRANSACTION request has no corresponding BEGIN TRANSACTION

 

We have also had the odd problem with people over the last few days getting:

 

Connection to database timed out

 

I have increased the time out to 100000.

 

Anyone with any ideas on these issues?

You might find it works if you don't include as many students in the ctf - they're big files and exporting everything in one file can fail. Also, you may not need to include all student data in the file - unticking the relevant boxes when producing the ctf may help.

 

If it still fails, even with just one student, it's probably a big in sims or corruption on your server! Have a word with support as there are things to try (detach db, etc)

There are numerous issues with exporting CTF's which result in rollback transaction errors. There are also quite a few patches to resolve the issue so I'd recommend that you ask your local LA or Capita depending on who you're supported by as the chances are that there is a patch to resolve this.

Yep, we had this problem the LA support team released he following patch to us Patch 14397 [643-644] (KB97609: unable create a CTF export file, the system hangs when user selected pupils in whole year group.) After applying this patch the CTF export was completed in seconds.
