ron Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Hi I'm trying to build a website for a primary school with the school name and logo at the top of the site with a flash slide show of images just below and the menu on the left hand side of the site in a button type layout. I have 12 buttons to add. I'm having trouble finding a template with this layout, all the menu's seem to be at the top of the website. Can anyone help?
ron Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 I'm using a joomla template but the menu is on the top not on the left hand side.
mossj Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 You can change the position of the menu, by changing it's module position in the module manager. If the menu 'breaks' after you do this then you need a new Joomla Template as your current one most likely doesn't support vertical menus.
ron Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Ah thanks Mossj, I have managed to move it to the left hand side, do you know how I can add a red boarder to each menu item? On the template there are some blocks on each side of the template with sample news and info, before I had just created these on the left hand side and made them links to the page, they were in blocks then and I could change the background colour.
3s-gtech Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Just as an aside - try to use Jscript instead of Flash for slide shows if you can, I've found it much easier and it avoids the brilliance of Flash.
ron Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Ok thanks for that 3s-gtech. Anyone know how to add photos. I'm try to add a picture to a front page announcment and it comes up with the insert image window but nowhere to upload the actual image just boxes to link to the url of the image. Also does anyone know where I can get a nice plugin that will scroll text along the page, so we can add info?
rush_tech Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I think you maybe need a different editor try this one JCE - Joomla! Extensions Directory it's what I use and many others
ron Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 Thanks rush_tech, I used the editor and it works a treat!!
ron Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 Does anyone know of any good extensions/modules that are good for deveolping websites?
