SIMS wont run on Parallels? Windows 7?

Just installed a new parallels virtual machine on an i5 iMac (Windows 7) and it all installed fine all drivers etc. I joined it to the domain and it shows up in AD fine. I logged onto our school domain and that was all fine went to install SIMS and it said it cannot right to the S:\ (SIMS) drive? I have checked all permissions and all seam fine? So i just messed about and changed it from S:\ to C:\ then it installed.

 

Now it asks for the connect.ini file so i find it on S:\SIMS\ and then nothing happens it just shuts down the Application?

 

Just can't for the life of me figure out why?

Hmm, I'm not really too sure about MACs but my colleague uses one although he's installed Bootcamp so it's a dual boot machine rather than a VM and SIMS.net works fine there.

 

It sounds like a permissions issue, ensure that you have full control to the shared S:\SIMS drive and I'd also check the connect.ini in your C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net directory (note: directory might be slightly different for Windows 7). This might redirect to S:\SIMS

Trying to install XP through Bootcamp now and see how that goes/runs and see what happens. Will report back lol.

I have to say I had issues with Parallels and went fusion as it was more stable. Both can boot your bootcamp partition to allow you to using it while osx is booted. This allows you to boot camp boot or load the bootcamp os in osx for less performance.

Try with administrator login. I had once issue with windows 7, don't allow to write on S:\ drive even you are member of Administrators.
