Windows 7 License Question

We are planning on upgrading to windows 7 after september but we are having some software installed on a certain machine and to install the software on XP then again on Win 7 will add more cost to the job.

 

We will be licensed for Win 7 pro/enterprise as of 1st July but i dont know how to go about this. I only have 1 2008 server as i plan to upgrade the rest (well the majority) of the servers to 2008 R2 over the summer and i am not too sure if i can install a KMS server on a 2003 box or should i just install Win7 now and use a MAK key then convert over to a KMS key when im ready.

 

What would other people do?

A KMS server requires at least 25 clients (Any combination of Vista/7) try to activate against it before starts handing out licenses (5 for servers/office) so if you are only installing the one windows 7 machine for now, stick with a MAK key. You can always convert it later on if need be.

And yes you can install KMS on the 2003 server but as above there is no point unless you are planning on having 25 Vista/7 clients around to activate so that it starts handing out keys.
