Toshiba Power Supplies

We have bought 4 new toshiba laptops, the L450-17Q and all the power supplies will not pass a PAT test. The limit is 0.3 Ohms and these power supplies are coming back 19.9 ohms during the Earth Bond.

 

Does anyone know who i should be contacting at Toshiba?

Are they a two pin mains lead or a three? eg, fig 8 , clover leaf, iec?

3 pin uk plug with clover leaf plug into the power supply.

Its not marked as class 2 anyway is it? will say class 2 or may have a square inside a square.

Nope doesnt have anything like that... We have a PAT test technician and he says it is far too high and he looks for things like that. I have attached a report of a failed toshiba power supply and a dell power supply which passes.

Can you send a photo of the writing thats on the power supply as that result is saying to me there is no earth which is what suggests a class 2 appliance.

the input lead isnt duff rather than the psu itself is it?

Nope tested this too, it is the same on all 4 PSUs.

It looks like a class 2 appliace and therfore wont need an earth bond test to pass anyway - whats he testing the bond to ?

To the metal on the input plug that plugs into the laptop.

nope, its a standard 1 pin laptop connector, like on most toshiba laptops

In which case it is definatly a class 2 appliance and should be tested as such (even if it doewsnt carry the mark).

Just thought i would dig this up...

 

We have had some replacement power supplies from tosh and these replacement ones have PASSED the PAT test.... Strange really??? seeing as the new ones different to the shipped ones with the laptops.
