[SIMS] Conact linked to seemingly non-existant student?

Hi all,

 

I'm going to pst this at SupportNet too, but usually find I get more of a response here.

 

I'm going through and tidying up the contacts in our system, and I've come across one (there may be more, I'm not sure yet) who has a student linked to them who doesn't appear to exist.

 

The student is not on roll, nor have they ever been. They're not on as a future student, and they're not in any admission groups. They are nowhere to be seen!

 

Has anybody else come across this? Any idea's why it's happened or how to fix it? I'm dubious as to delete the link until I know why it's happened...

This student must be somewhere in the system, it's just not always easy to find them.

 

I have a very handy script for this though - you can search for anyone in the SIMS.net database and it will bring up anyone who they are somehow linked to in the SIMS system and it will also tell you their relationship to the person who you searched for.

 

Once the link has been identified, you can usually find them in the front end and amend the problem.

Maybe it's someone that was in an admission group, but that has now been deleted, and you're just seeing a ghost...?

@Sarconia; - please share the script. I've got a few that just look at the person and student tables, but doesn't show any linking, that could be handy, i've had a ghost in the machine for some time due to a test we did, linking staff as a parent! doh!
