If I had the thousands required, I'd have gone to south africa and seen a couple of games.

The world cup see's people of every colour, race, size, country and class, all together, having a good time. It has brought life and prosperity to a country that deserves it, and has put on one of the best world cups I have ever seen.

How many thousands would you need?

a couple of my mates went over there for it. about £1000 or more for the flights, and I'd bet on at least £100 per night in the hotels, if not more. And like hell would the wife let me go without her coming along too. So 2-3k for one, £5k as an estimate for 2 including travel, tickets and living costs etc.

We've organised showing the game in the hall on the projector, with consent from parents they can stay till the end. They're not allowed home early though.

I've not looked a current costs but I did 3 weeks in February for £400 flights. B&B is about £10+. I hired a car for about a week. Living cost are cheaper than here, you can get a meal easily for £5 - £10. Travel is the problem as it's hundreds of miles between games. I stayed with an African family, so paid them bed and board.

£5k seems a lot, especially if the England games end after today.

The airline companies aren't stupid; Same reason they bump up costs for school holidays. When people don't want to fly, flights are cheap. But when everyone is flying, they all bump up the costs.

If i wanted to go out to South Africa next week for 1 week leaving midweek, £2,000. If I go on 30th July, £1600.

So at £1,000 per person for flights, and £100 per night in a hotel as a guess (all the 'good' hotels near the stadiums will be booked out for the football teams, so availability will be low). The costs soon rack up.

I have just finished installing the new 42inch LCD in the new computer suite, Iplayer works just dandy. I might go and watch DrWho at 3pm just to annoy the teachers who are busy in a staff meeting.

£588 leaving tomorrow, returning 8th July. London to Jo'burg. Kenya Airways.
