Streaming tv Over Ip windows media encoder 9

I have a little windows 7 box with a tv card i use to record tv show.

 

I would like to use this to stream the football to our webserver but i cant seem to get there.

 

I have installed windows media encoder 9 with a hauppauge 500t tv card but windows media encoder wont reconise the Tv card. Any idea guys !!

If I recall correctly Windows Media Encoder won't recognise any TV tuners, what you need is a normal composite input device and run an analogue signal in through that.

So a basic capture card and an external Freeview box will do the job nicely.

Have you managed to get the media bit working with an audio stream yet just to check it's all working?

Just use VLC to setup the stream instead of WME. Tell it what sort of tuner you are using DVB-S/DVB-T/etc and then the frequency for the channel you want to stream, set the transcoding options and your sorted.

Has anyone got an idiots guide as i can get vlc to connect to the tv card just need work out how to broadcast it !! Many Thanks

In VLC go to Media -> Streaming, then capture device and set appropriate settings for you device. Click on stream and then next. Change the destination to whatever format you want, e.g choose MMS (or MMSH if you're using 1.1) and click add enter the ip address of the client you are streaming from172.16.0.166, click in activate transcoding and then choose a suitable profile (Video - WMV + WMA (ASF) for windows media player with no codec worries). Then click next and finally stream.

 

To connect to you stream save the following as a .asx file:

Replace PUT IP ADDRESS HERE with relevant ip address and ensure that port is hte same (8080 is the defual for mms). Then just double click the file and you should connect to the stream. You may need to alter settings in the transcode step to get the quality to an appropriate level.
