Landline phones with caller displays

Hi,

 

At the school we have Panasonic KX-T668 landline phones. These can display the department that is making the incoming call. In the IT office it would be beneficial to get some wireless handsets so if we need to get on a server (in a different room) we can do so without having to remote in.

Does anyone know the technical term for a phone with the ability to read out the caller.

 

I found these, with a description of having "Caller Display" but i wonder if this would just read our telephone number back to us, and not the internal department number.

I think you will find the phones you have are probably part of a PBX system and not just standard landline phones. If they are displaying the department of the people ringing then they are using more than just caller ID.

Do you have support contract for your phone system? If so they would be the best people to speak to.
