Internet Banning using LanView3? With IE7 you can.

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say that Simon at MST has done a fair amount of research into the effects of IE7 and the use of LanView3's Internet banning feature.

The results are in and for once, there is good news.

If your network uses IE7 on it's clients then Internet Banning will work by adding Iexplore.exe as a banned application in LanView3.

This is due to Microsoft's radical change in the integration of IE in windows. No longer does Windows explorer have an IE activeX control. Instead, clicking on a favourite, url link, help file or homepage in Windows Explorer will launch a separate iexplore.exe process.

Oh, and you won't need to download any update from us. Any existing version will work.

As always, LanView3 is free and downloadable from our website at http://www.mst-software.co.uk

Please pass this news on if you get a chance.

All the best for a merry Christmas

Thats correct. Anything that loads in IE will be blocked. This will include Learning Resources, and RM MMC.

Although, with the RM MMC, normally these are limited to Admin users so you can add them to the ignored group which means RM MMC won't be blocked.
