Is it possible to edit the text in a PDF?

I have a pdf that i want to edit a few lines of text in. I have acrobat proffesional but dont seem to vbe able to do it, is it possible, are there any free apps to do this as i can only find stuff on how to merge.

Try downloading the free openoffice, you can make changes and then export to PDF again.

Is the PDF copyright material and do you have the creators permission to alter the context within?

 

If so there are a number of PDF editors around but I don't think there are any totally free ones (someone may correct me on this).

 

We always have teaching staff asking us if we can alter PDFs but most documents are created in this format purely to protect them.

How can you open PDF documents in OpenOffice? We had a teacher asking how to do this just before lunch and we told her to use a website we found that converts documents

Providing the PDF is not protected, open it using Openoffice. It will use Draw to display the PDF. You may need to install the PDF addin, but I think that is just to export it out again as a PDF. I did only last week, so I know it works.

You can't directly edit text, but you can use 'whiteout' to blank it then add your own text over the top, just a case of picking the correct font

there is a list of apps that one of IT magazins offer for editing PDF documents:

But I am not sure whether they are free or not. You'd better to visit their official websites.
