SimpleSi Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I was/am havign a problem using clonezilla to create a disk image onto a portable hard drive on an 11in Acer Aspire One. The only combo that seems (I'll go back and check in a bit!) is to put bootable pendrive into nearest the front lh side usb socket. Put main plug from port hard drive into RH usb slot - use and extension to route secondary power lead to the other lh usb socket and then boot up. (basically clonezilla was saying the port hard drive was full after about 10mins but what seemingly was happening was that it wasn't getting enough juice and was bombing out) Putting bootable pendrive in rh slot just didn't work at all - would hang during clonezilla booting process. Fingers crossed as going back now to see if it has managed to finish! regards Simon
SimpleSi Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 Phew - its worked Just doing a restore onto another machine but looking OK (but dad to reboot twice to get the new machine to complete the clonezilla init sequence!) regards Simon
SimpleSi Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 Well - I've given up On the 3rd machine, it took 2 attempts to get Clonezilla to get all the way through the init processing and then it just gave real gobbly gook error msgs over and over again Rebooting made no diff So I gave up and dug out my old DVD drive mounted in a USB drive case - booted off my old WinPE boot disc and used one of the "utilities" on it to create an image. I hoping to get these machines into operation sometime this term! Maybe I'd be quicker removing the hard drive from its mount and etching each bit in by hand using a magnet regards Simon
