WOL Software solution

Hi,

I am looking for a good WOL solution for our network of 500 pc's. Basically we use SCCM 2007 at current but it has some shortcommings and is a pain to manage.

I want software which will sync with AD and update when new pc's are added or removed. And an easy way to schedule when the pc's switch on.

And a way for me to ideally put in dates of the term and then only have SMT/Admin pc's switch on during the half term.

If it does shutdown aswell so much the better but I'm looking at using shutdownertron to do that instead of a scheduled task.

Any reconmendations or ideas would be much appreciated. Cost isn't a huge issue.

Thanks Galway, doesn't look like you can do scheduling with gpupdate which is an essential feature we need.

You can but your required to pay for it in order to unlock the more fancy features

 

We currently use gpupdate (previously known as specops remote admin) but i think another possibility if you fancied consolidating multiple things into one would be to get impero as i think there is WOL scheduling built into that , though im still toying with it

Oh that's good then, I'm going to contact them to find out more. Impero looks more for the classroom use. Our staff are quite impatient and want all pc's turned on before registration so they can login quicer as Sims needs a core 2 duo or more to load "fast" oh and 2gb ram!!
