[fog] Default logon help!

Hi all!

 

Ive got a problem, im not new to FOG ive been using it since about version 0.08 but im now only starting to get my teeth into it!

 

Ive managed to sort everything out bar 1 thing, When the computer is imaged it defaults to the local machine to logon to, but I want it to be our domain....

 

Any way this can be achieved? Ive looked into the registry way using a startup script on the local machine but i want the script to delete itself aswell....

 

Im probably not going about it the best of ways,

Fog has active directory integration built into the fog client.

 

You can also achieve this without using the fog client by doing a runonce command via sysprep. The best bet (or ideal) for this is to do the following

 

 

Computer is imaged

#1 Sysprep has the "auto log in as administrator" field activated (for xp)

#2 system runs a .vbs or batch script to change the computer name to the service tag / serial # / or mac # (I prefer to name them based off of one of these 3 things

#3 system reboots

#4 system auto logs in again (a 2nd time) and runs a script to add it to the domain

The only way to change this is a registry change - I have a startup script which runs once as an 'initial startup script' the way it only runs once is by writing a little marker flag to the hard drive of the machine which is the first thing the script looks for, if it's there then the whole thing is bypassed, if it's not then it runs and completes a whole host of changes then automatically re-boots the machine. This script does all manner of things for me, changeing that box is one of them - it also sets my startup wallpaper, screen saver, copies across some files and applies a selection of other changes that makes my imaging process pratically automated.

Hi Both - Thanks for replying!!

 

@ssx4life - Thanks, yeah I have set my sysprep to login as administrator twice, BUT the RunOnce bit will change the default domain to my domain BUT this does this on the 1st reboot (i think) and when the administrator logs in a 2nd time it will default back to the local machine!

 

@Mike - Thanks aswell! - The one thing ive found is that Group Policy isnt picked up straight away it then requires an additional reboot to pickup our domain stuff

 

Each way I attack this problem , i come up against another problem lol

EDIT - Had a brian wave - Im gonna stop over complicating the issue, and stick a startup script in the local computer's startup folder and set it to hidden and FORGET ABOUT IT! lol
