Evening Everyone,

Thanks for everyone who managed to get involved in the conference whom was unable to actually attend the event in person. I know things got off to a poor start due to the internet connectivity issues but all was good in the end.

I just wanted your feedback really of what you thought of the Systems we put in place for you so that you could get involved also.

Thoughts on the conference itself are also welcomed, although i am sure Chris will post a thank you soon enough and feedback would be good there this is really to get general feedback from the external controbuters. :)

Many Thanks again for all involved! and i hope you enjoyed it :)

Cheers,

James.

The live chat was good, although, there wasn't really much chat taking place in there. Not sure if this was due to the moderation or if people were just busy?

From what I saw of the video footage (late in the day) it was good quality. I understand due to filtering it wasn't available all day though like it was last year which I definitely think is something that should be looked at for the future.

i posted stuff in the live chat and it never appeared.

There were some things I posted too which never made it.

What was the reason for pre-moderation? Would have been better to have it like this forum where all comments go through and you remove those after, if necessary.

The live chat was moderated, its mostly for conf->public chat rather then a chat room so bit didnt make it through but most did.

The biggest reason it was slow at getting live messages was the internet link at the conf centre was being very flaky and they were being booted from the net.

In that case, in my opinion, it was better last year when it was a free for all chat room and we could talk about what was going on etc. This year it was basically Twitter.

Much better video and sound this year which was great, just need to work on that known bad net connection for next year and it will be golden. I know that the convention centre has aweful broadband and has each time, is their a building near by that may have a better connection that would be accessable and rentable. It would make a fantastic demo for the Ruckus/$Vendor wireless gear providing a fast bridged link to a real connection and would make things way easier in the long run.

As I have said before I am thankful for any level of interactivity provided. If your after suggestions then I would mirror the previous comments about a more open chat page tied to usernames. To a certain extent that was provided this time by the IRC chat offering which was a great way to talk to the people there that happened to be logged into the chatroom.

I think the screen in the conference room needed a bit of thought. The reason people were sniggering in the direction of Ric was the MSN news ticker behind him was displaying some rather...unworksafe language. ;)

If admins are attending virtually then perhaps they could Skype into it instead for the ask the admins section. Questions should be asked for in advance so that you can take a mixture of from the floor questions, live virtual attendees and pre-requested questions.

For future I have some plans for remote admins anyway but in this specific conf Voice/video etc has a hugely high failure rate at that centre and really it was hard for me to ensure I had time to guarantee I was available then hence the last minute arrangement.

The problem we have with the Woodlands Centre is that the net connection is, to be frank, awful (not slow though), random and so heaviliy restricted to be next to useless for a tech based conference. I honestly think that this will be the last year we go to Chorley. We simply cannot use the internet connection that they offer. Edited by Dos_Box

Have you expressed your concerns to them, just out of interest?

Couldn't we find somewhere nearby with good internet and lease it. Perhaps have a live demo of long range managed wireless.

Perhaps a demo of 4G with a locally shared router.

Just thinking, why not use it to our advantage and let some sponsors provide a solution, can't get a better advert than that. so maybe have Server room in a box, own connection, got smoothwall to do the filtering of course....
