We have a server and want to add the spare disk to the C drive to create more storage.

It is a HP Proliant DL380 G5.

Slot 1 and 2 each have a 72GB hard disk in a mirror raid

Slot 4 is the 72GB spare disk

Slot 5 - 8 each have a 72GB hard disk mirrored to make it 136GB.

I would like to add the spare 72GB disk in slot 4 to make more space for the 72GB mirror raid in slot 1 and 2.

Is this possible withouth breaking the raid and if not what is the best way to do this please?

how are the disks in slot 1 and 2 configured in the raid 1+0? if so you would need another disk so that you have 4 disks raid 1+0 and 136gb partition.

If its non critical then you could create it as a single disk in the raid then in windows mount it to a folder in C: e.g C:\extra space is another 72gb.
