Popular Post russdev Posted May 26, 2010 Popular Post Posted May 26, 2010 Attached for your viewing is draft technical roles released by SSSNB. They are going to be tested against a number of LAs to see how they match up with current roles within schools. UNISON are doing a consultation so see your local branch on how they want the feedback. I have also inquired on how as org how EduGeek.net can pass on your views by way of an official response. Some obvious things need changing but if put your views across then I hope I can get them across to the right people. Ric_ Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Russ, quick question ... What are "JE Levels"? From my understanding, each of those categories is split into competencies/requirements. Each time you meet a competency/requirement, you get a level. My problem with this draft document is that there is no additional document saying what the competencies/requirements are.
36Degrees Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Thanks Russ. Some of us here were discussing the SSSNB the other night with our union rep as we are going through Job Evaluation at the moment. I shall forward this to him in case he hasn't seen it and also in the hope that all of the other unions will consult their members, not just Unison.
russdev Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 I am getting this confirmed but I understand it following: - Competencies that will be defined by IT NOS So let me use real example for the rest: - IT Support 1 If your current Responsibilities matched IT 1 you would be accessed at that level. Then they would look at headings under Job Evaluation Assessment and each one of those is level you would be working at. So for example Knowledge and skills in IT1 is more basic compared to IT3. The JE levels I need to get confirmed but I believe that this is where job fits with the new scale. If that is the case then I have disagreement with the levels and how they match up. Once JE us confirmed later to me I will update. To my mind lets focus on the descriptions etc fairly obvious: IT1 Junior Tech IT2 Senior Tech IT3 - Network Manager What problems there are which there is a number. Russell
timzim Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 The job specs are similar but different to BECTA's ICT Competencies Framework. Bit confusing to have two differing specs.
featured_spectre Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 According to the SSSNB document mine is mainly IT Support 3 with one or two bits in from IT Support 2, yet I am paid for IT Support 1. Does this mean with this info, I can ask for a pay rise?
russdev Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 According to the SSSNB document mine is mainly IT Support 3 with one or two bits in from IT Support 2, yet I am paid for IT Support 1. Does this mean with this info, I can ask for a pay rise? No one is paid at at any level with in these as no pay grades have been assigned (remember this has no relations to any pay grade scheme you are in etc)
russdev Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 Right so JE level as it stands is this: - Everyone starts of with level 1. If your job means you do Knowledge and skills at level of IT1 then you go level 2. More levels the more pay. But some areas will have a higher weighting vrs others. So for sake of this you need to Relevant Job Information so at IT1 as junior tech do you do that. But also compare je levels with other je levels in the other job roles. Next Week I am going to go into detail with the doc. Russell
