Having a Wednesday afternoon brain meltdown - trying to knock up a folder structure for end of year reports to be saved into, main folder "Reports", subfolders of student names. The student folders need to be read only (cannot rename, accidentally move or delete the folder) but allow staff to save documents into the folder.

Can anyone remind me what the NTFS perms should be on the "Student Name" folders? At the moment, I have read only NTFS perms set on the Reports folder, inherited to the "Student Name" folders. Trying to add the write permissions to the folders to only allow files to be created in them, I thought last time I did it I just added special write permissions "Files only" on each student folder but it doesn't seem to be working. :getmecoat:

Personally I would set the permissions on the root folder and let them inherit down to the individual student folders.

Set your Staff group permissions as in the attached picture and you should be fine.
