vikpaw Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Hi, just a heads up. We got notification today about an issue in SIMS with a rounding error. We have found a potential error with Charge Code rounding calculations, and we would like you, please to check by doing the following: Please unzip the attachment OSBalanceCheck.zip to the desktop on the server. Now go to C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS.net and run an executable file called DBDiagnose You will need to log in with the SIMS net login and password. Click the Add button, and select the file from the attachment called OSBalanceCheck.sql Click the Run button. You will see the results will look something like this: Server Information ================== Edition Version Level Engine SIMS Schema Version ------- ------- ----- ------ ------------------- Express Edition 10.0.2531.0 SP1 Unknown 3.61.642 OSBalanceCheck.sql ================== Column1 ControlAccOldBalance ControlAccNewBalance ------- -------------------- -------------------- Control Account Adjustment 0.00 -3199.93 -3199.93 The line which says Control Account Adjustment should have the figure 0.00 next to it, and the next two Balance figures should be the same. If the Control Account Adjustment is not 0.00 you will need to contact us for a patch. Otherwise, you are OK. We have also produced a patch to correct the problem for the Spring release, and we would like you to apply it, please, even if you don’t have the problem. The patch is the second attachment, called Rounding Patch.zip Unzip it to the desktop of the server and use DBUpgrade to run it. **Please make sure you have a backup first** I haven't run it yet, only just got the attachments out of quarantine, will probably do the diagnostic this weekend. I don't think it's linked to the other error mentioned regarding Spring Update about an error in Fees Billing as this appears to affect pre Spring release too. 1
matt40k Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Looks like it just affects people who have bought the Fees module. Another reason why you shouldn't charge for education lol
vikpaw Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 We have to, i don't get paid, if we don't collect fees!
Sarconia Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 We have to, i don't get paid, if we don't collect fees! It funds all of those ice cubes in the swimming pool! Still, I'm rather glad that I no longer have to deal with the Fees Module. All of those headache issues of trying to delete students who still had weird Fees data lingering around.

You should feel honoured to be allowed to work for your employer, so much in fact that you should feel obligated to pay them for allowing you to work for them. At least that's what they'll say when you ask for a pay rise
