Hi all

Quick query really. Looking to try and get some switches replaced if I can squirell away enough of my budget and was wondering if anyone can point out the blaringly obvious (and subtle differences) between the Procurve 2510 and 2610 switches other then approx. £200?

I'd probably try and go for a 48 port for the area I'm thinking of, any opinions/advice?

Looking at the spec, the 2610 has double the amount of RAM and Flash storage, and a faster processor. What real-world benefit that translates to, I couldn't tell you. There is almost certainly some other functional difference buried in the spec but as they aren't laid out quite the same on HP's website, they aren't straightforward to compare.

Well the 2610's are all 100mb so are only really comparable to the 2510 non gigabit models, in switch case the hardware specifications are the same for both apart from the 2510-48 having a smaller port buffer the rest looks to be software with the 2610 series offering some limited layer 3 functionality.

Thanks guys, didn't know if I was missing something or not.

So in brief summary so far, not a huge ammount and nothing that I could really justify an extra £200 for at the present time. :)
