Hi,

One of the user wants the following:

In SIMS - my messages panel

Is it possible to increase the size of the inbox or when its full can we automatically delete the old message.

Any help appreciated

I'm pretty sure the size is limited and no settings to increase. I also believe that it then deletes the oldest automatically.

I would advise the user to go to Focus | Alerts | General Messages and then bulk delete them based on date or other column heading.

oh, i thought it just got bunged up until you deleted them...

You may well be right, my memory is a bit foggy on that. I'll test it.

Thanks for all your inputs.

So there is no way that inbox size can be incresed.

What about the automatic deletion of old messege, how do I do that if it does't happen

i think i'm mistaken. the link to general messages shows my sent items of which i have 70+, the panel in homepage shows my inbox which wont bulk delete. :(

i was sure the inbox limit was around 50 and it wouldn't auto-delete.

Thanks ever so much

You're welcome. I think I must have been at a Capita meeting where deletion from the mailbox was discussed. At least the sender is notified when the recipient's mailbox is full.

When we get full Inboxes then the miscreant gets a gentle warning, by email, from me. If this has no effect then they get a second - warning them that I will edit their SIMS Password, log in as them, and delete them for them. I then make sure that their new Password - which they have to see me to get - acts as a reminder (at least initially!). My favourite 'new' password is 'Readmymessages'

It works, usually!!! :D

One customer who I dealt with once said "It's ludicrous that your mailbox can be full but it actually notifies someone else!".

I have to agree really, if someones mailbox is full, they should be informed too - maybe with a big flashing red pop up on their homepage which flashes vigorously every time they log in.

If they have their messages on their Homepage the top message says 'Message Box Full'. So it does.

It's on the users Homepage, or is if it has been set up. In 'My Messages' Click on 'More...'
