Hi All,

I've got one physical Server which has got Windows Server 2008 Datacenter sticker on it and based on this document:

http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/about-licensing/virtualization.aspx

i can deploy unlimited any version of Windows Server 2000-2003-2008 VM on my ESXi, now the question is that "Which serial number should I use for those VM ?"

can anyone share your experience in deploying VM under Datacenter 2008 license please ?

Thanks.

You need to use the activiation key for the version of Windows you are installing. If you log on to the Windows Volume License Service Centre you'll see all the licenses and keys you are entitled to. Hopefully there should be VLK's for 2000 and 20003 and MAK/KMS for 2008, there should also be iso's for all.

EDIT: And since we're on the subject of licensing it does not harm to double check - you are buying a copy of Datacenter for each physical processor in your server?

Most of my servers have 2xQuad-Core processors so I have bought 2 copies of Datacenter for each server (4 of them).
