Moodle Front Page Vanished!

Hey folks,

 

Seems I made a boo boo in Moodle. Tried restoring a course, and selected the "delete existing course and create in place. Anyhow, long story short is that the front page is now an empty course with no blocks (but room to add blocks, activities, etc etc. The rest of the site is in tact by the looks of it (can manually browse to courses).

 

What's the best way to restore the front page?

What backups do you have in place.

 

Every nigtht our backup software dumps the database and backsup all files.

 

If you do the same, restore the whole of moodle to another instal. Export the home page and reimport into your exsiting one

We take snapshots as it is on ESXi - so restoring means restoring the whole lot.

can you restore the snapshot to a new vm? (long time since u used esxi) if you can then i would do as FN-GM says above

Just restored the snapshot we held as a backup - took a while to copy back over to the ESXi server, but it's back up now.

 

Was hoping for a quicker and easier "copy these source files back up to your server" or "do this in the database" rather than having to restore the whole image, but I've done it now so no harm done.
