Little-Miss Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I am without backup at the moment so in a bit of a flap. I just want a NAS i can order and plug into my network and backup! I only need a 1TB cus i plan on sorting my other one out via warranty etc...
Duke Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 If you only need 1TB... external HDD plugged into a server and shared via that? Okay, it's not pretty, but it'd give you 1TB of networked storage. I don't really know the consumer-level NAS stuff so my next step would be to recommend the Sun kit, but then you're looking at 4TB minimum and it won't be cheap.
Dos_Box Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 We have 2 Thecus N0503 ComboNAS boxes kitted out with 3x1TB drives in EduGeek (one in the office and one in Aberdeen with Shaun). They are pretty damned good, but not cheap. They have a cheaper 2 disk version on Scan for £130 (without disks) and I can recommend them whole heartidly. 1
cromertech Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 We've just bought a Netgear ReadyNAS NVX. Bought with 1 TB and got 1 free think the offer is still going. Very easy to set up and you just backup to the network share. Drives are setup in redundant array as well so you can worry a bit less about failiures. 1
