Guest Guest Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Am i missing something? Whats R2? Is it free? And where do i download it from?
john Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 You are missing something, but its not free so can only download it if you hold a licence for it. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/r2/whatsnewinr2.mspx tells you all about it in a nice Microsofty Way. But as a very quick sum up, better Print and File Storage / Quota Management.
kingswood Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Yeah- Server 2003 R2 is really good. The Print Management Console alone is worth the upgrade. Paul
Guest Guest Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Well we're in need of another server licence so will be gettiong one soon. Whats the score with interoperability between R2 and standard 2003 servers? Would we need all R2 over our DC's, file and app servers to get full functionallity, or...? So R2 is stable then? Dont want to be putting it on to find it messes up a working domain. Can you buy R2 as an upgrade for 2003 or do you have to buy a full new licence? Any help appreciated as microsoft seem incapible of answering my simple questions.
Ric_ Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 It's stable and interoporable too. To get R2 you need to buy a full license but that's only £49 from Rameys.
mrforgetful Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Depends which version, Enterprise is £272 from Ramesys.
k-strider Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 there is also a schema update to do... but all our servers now run it... it works fine in mixed mode too though, we updated our servers one at a time...
