Dos_Box Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I have been donated an old Optiplex 755 to use as a server in the EG office (and to keep my hand in with Server 2008 R2 and it came with 2GB of PC4200 RAM. I obviously want to max it out, but dirrerant site such as Kinston and Crucial give differing amounts as to the maximum you can install. It varies from 2GB to 8GB! It is the SFF, not USFF chassis, so if anyone out there is using these and has an answer please let me know.
soveryapt Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I'll have a look at our 755s and see if I can find out for you ..
broc Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) Check the chipset, that will be the limiting factor. it is Q35, then the limit would be 8gb as per this document http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/whitepaper/316971.pdf Assuming it has 4x DIMM slots, each DIMM having 2gb .... I have a 755 Q6600 mini-tower at home with 6gb installed, 2x 1gb + 2x 2gb DIMMs Edited April 30, 2010 by broc
soveryapt Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Having dug around a bit, I've found this ... Documentation So it's either 4GB for 32bit or 8GB for 64bit ..
