Jlwalm Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I am struggling to get folder redirection to work in windows 7. When I click on 'document' I get the following error: This operation has been cancelled due to the restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator.. when I look in the event log, I get the following: Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "Documents" to "\\svr\username$\". Redirection options=0x80001210. The following error occurred: "Can not create folder "\\svr\username$"". Error details: "This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object. ". it appears that it is trying to create the documents folder in the users share... the user has full permisions on their share. any ideas? thanks
SYNACK Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 The user needs to be the NTFS owner of the folder as well as have full rights to it in order for redirection to work properly. This sounds like what it is complaining about.
Jlwalm Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 how do i set the user to be the ntfs owner?
_Adam_ Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Agree with Synack. Although there are some very good Microsoft guides on this topic, here is a step by step guide which may help you - Configuring Folder Redirection in Windows Server 2008
