laserblazer Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Children Services have given one of our kids a laptop for use at school and home, which we will probably have for a year or so. It doesn't come with any Office software and they are reluctant to let me install Open Office. He could just use Wordpad but I wondered if a web based WP might be a better option. Has anyone any recommendations please?
soveryapt Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Dunno how any of them fair but a quick Google brought this site up: Write Here, Write Now, Write Anywhere: 13 Free Web-Based Word Processors - Stepcase Lifehack
elsiegee40 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Share Documents and Files Online | Microsoft Office Live or google docs both have office products available online for free.
SteveBentley Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 It doesn't come with any Office software and they are reluctant to let me install Open Office. Begs the question "Why?" - on both counts.
Rydra Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 google office works perfectly well, but in my experience Open Office will work a LOT better. I've found so many annoyances with google docs I refuse to use them. MS Office Live, I found annoying to get working, and wants to install 93 seperate things to get it to work last time I tried.
danbuntu Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 there is also the zoho suite which could be useful if you don't want to drive everyone into having a hotmail of googlemail account
TLARWise Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 How about the portable version of OpenOffice - OpenOffice.org Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives
