Gatt Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Ok so I'm trying to install Sharepoint 2010 (upgrading 2007) but keep getting stuck on the following error when trying to configure it: An exception of type System.Data,SqlClient.SqlException was thrown. Additional exception information: Procedure or function proc_putObject has too many arguments specified All pre-req's have been fulfiled - SQL Server 2005 SP3 + CU3, etc Cannot get round it at all.
steveej1 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Hi there, Would initially suggest 1. Confirm 64 bit sql and that the sql version has indeed updated properly, check instance of sql etc. 2. Check that the user you are using has full rights to sql server – ideally sysadmin role on server. Thanks, Steve Eyton-Jones Novotronix Ltd.
Gatt Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 1) Confirmed - jsut upgraded SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 x64, applied Sp1 and CU2 - rebooted - no effect 2) Running setup as domain Admin - would have thought it was already a sysadmin?
steveej1 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Domain admin doesn’t necessarily mean sql admin – especially on 2008. Check roles assigned in Sql Server management studio > Security > Logins Otherwise its a bit difficult to say without seeing your setup in a bit more detail. Was the existing 2007 install fully patched? 1
Gatt Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 As far as I recall MOSS 2007 was fully patched I will check the SQL Roles next time I'm in the office
apearce Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 are you on MOSS 2007 SP 2 Cumulative Update October 2009?
Gatt Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 @alex - whole thing got very messy and went down the pan Now trying to find a way to recover all the uploaded filews from the content DB Can I create a new MOSS 2007 install on a seperate server and attach the old content DB to that server so Ic an recover the files?
HMCTech Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Are you doing an upgrade using the 2010 beta or has the rtm been made available now?
Gatt Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 At moment I'm trying to recover the content DB I have created a new MOSS 2007 installation and trying to figure out how to "mount" the existing content database to the new server... I have tried stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http://intranet -databasename And whilst this adds the DB to sharepoint, it appears to be blank (it appears in MOSS with a different GUID)
Gatt Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 Hurrah! itsd back up and running!! just need sharepoint 2010 to appear on TechNet then try the upgrade again..
Gatt Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 make sure its attached in SQL Server, then run the stsadm command above to link it to MOSS 2007
