The permissions can sometimes get screwed and then present you with a reason 0 message. Run the following SQL commands to fix... it can take a while! (BTW - the syntax assumes your database is called SIMS)

 

use sims
exec sims.db_p_install
exec sims.db_p_grant

Hi gang thank you to everyone for the fast responce, we tried all the suggestions and narrowed it down to the flipping windows firewall. some how Kaspersky had disabled and windows server 2008 firewall had enabled it self.

Sometimes reason 0/local SIMS logon only is also caused by the SQL server browser agent not running (disabled by default on SQL2008)
