Joomla Publishing

I'm just wondering.. When I add users to Publishers to allow them to edit articles they have access to the Publishing Tab (section, category, published, front page, access level etc) is there anyway to stop them having access to this? It's rather annoying when I see things appearing in different categories and in the main menu tab

I don't think so, however there is a extension for Joomla called 'K2' out there that might be able to give you the control (but I've never used it)

K2 works great although needs quite a bit of tweaking in terms of templates to make it display as you want and many extensions are not compatible as yet. Out-of-the-box it allows finer control of categories, etc that people are allowed to publish in. I have just used it for the first time on a new site for my school which allows every member of staff to add content but only in their designated areas depending on what groups they belong to. It also makes adding images, video, attachments, comments, etc very easy for the lay-(non-techie)-person. It has gone down very well so far...

We use K2, Agreed lots of configuring to get it how you want it, but it is BRILLIANT and you can migrate all your existing articles to it too.

and you can create multiple permission levels for users!

Just found this post again!

 

I had a play around with K2 - put all the categories / articles into it created a new article in K2 and added myself as the editor for the category the article was in and enabled myself to edit it frontend - yet when I logged in to the frontend there was no edit article button? Is there any easy simple way of setting this up? and do I always have to create articles in K2? If I did it the normal way would K2 pick this up?
