garethedmondson Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Can anyone recommend the best way to deploy a .dll file around the network? When we access our LEA Sharepoint site I get aksed to run the name.dll file every time. I wonder whether sending it around would get rid of this. Gareth
srochford Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Typically, you copy it into c:\windows\system32 with a machine startup script and then (if necessary) do a regsvr32 /s xxxx.dll (/s makes it register silently) If this is something needed by Internet Explorer, though, it may be different and may need installing as an ActiveX which you can do with group policies but I've forgotten how and I need to be out of here in 2 minutes :-)
sted Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 if you add the website to the trusted sites list it just gets on and installs it. I dont think copying it works as i THINK its per website as i use 2 sharepoint sites and i think it asks on both if its not a trusted site
apearce Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Are you using their OCS with their SharePoint? Best Practise is they take the name.dll out. Maybe worth asking them. THe name.dll does the presence information in OCS. A.
